We recently scanned several images from one of Bert Hoddinott Jr’s 2002 sketchbooks, and we’re excited to share them with the world. Within the 6x8" pages of this spiral notebook we can see into the thought process of the artist as he worked through composition, color and subject matter for his later, and sometimes larger works.
Mediums used here include pencil, watercolor and pastel, and reflect some of the time he spent up in Canada at his family’s scenic get-away and rental property, “Canonto” (on Norcan Lake in Ontario). There are many depictions of Canada within the pages of Reflections: The Art of Bert Hoddinott Jr.
